Founded in 1947, South of the Border has had only two family associated owners in over seventy-two years of existence. These ties to family-run deep into the vibe and cuisine of our restaurant, located in St. Francisville, Louisiana. The historic art deco building can be spotted by its original neon sign shining for all to see. Our take on Southern staples, such as crispy fried catfish, savory mustard greens, tasty fried pickles, and our house-made onion rings, are sure to satisfy your comfort food cravings. One dish, in particular, is our Crawfish Nyma, named after their mother, Sarah Nyma, who cooked it up years ago in the kitchen! Along with these, our menu also includes delicious steak and seafood options including fresh Gulf shrimp and oysters. Like any other Southern restaurant, we take pride in our cooked to order Southern fried chicken. We believe that great fried chicken takes time, love, and care for perfection. A full-service bar is also available to pair beer, wine, and liquor beverages perfectly with your entrees! A private dining room is also available for your private events! Come on in and make yourself at home!
